2/11/11 Contest Update If Wall Street fauna included camels along with bulls and bears perhaps the revolution in Egypt would have had a more significant impact on stock prices this week. But the sacking of Mubarak, reputedly the richest man on the planet, didn’t seem to give the world’s other super-rich guys much of a scare. In any case, congratulations to the people of Egypt! At Friday’s close, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up .87% YTD (vs. up .98% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was up 1.09% YTD (vs. up 1.87% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 5.90% YTD (vs. up 4.39% YTD a week ago). GENE’s portfolio (up 28.71% YTD) held on to the No. 1 position, but its lead was narrowed quite a bit by second place RKRW’s portfolio (up 21.89% YTD) which holds the week’s top gainer, ISTA. RRGE’s portfolio (up 17.37% YTD) remained in third place. At Friday's close, 21 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black with 20 of the 38 beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list.
