Pay no attention to analysts who downgrade at this point. They missed the boat and have done a poor job for their clients. What good will a downgrade do now that their clients have lost $20-$30 a share. Are they now telling them to sell? That would be ridiculous. It's just a game and you have to know how to play it. Watch 3com rally on downgrade news. Bear stearns will look totally stupid as will Adam Harkness. They shoud be telling their clients that this is way overdone and that 3com and other techs are probably good trading buys right now and that in the long term all of this "noise" is irrelevant. Sit tight and in 2-5 year you will be rewarded nicely (even those who bought in the 50's)

If brokerages had any ethics, they should be advocating buy and hold strategies for the great companies (i.e. 3com). But they need to make commissions, so they jerk investors around with buy/hold/sell and upgrade/downgrade recommendations. Looking back at the history of recommendations, I'm sure you would find they were wrong 99% of the time.
