What kind of warped logic is that.... ""Finding a vent for 911 would have been possibly more difficult"" as though America needed a vent for the 911 disaster & 3000+ deaths caused by 11 Jihadist suicide crazys from the ME... or in other words....if USA would have taken Baghdad in 1991 it would have been very difficult to find blame for the 911 disaster...??? Problem is the subsequently finding a vent for 911 experience would have been possibly more difficult.. Or.. we might have had another ally to assist us in fighting Islamic Militancy and oppose Iran.. We didn't overthrow Saddam at the urgings of Saudi Arabia, which was afraid of destabilizing the current order and replacing it with democratic reforms that it might have to answer to with it's own population. SA also didn't want competition from Iraq's oil reserves being opened to exploration and global sale. We'll just never know how things might have turned out differently had we forced Saddam to answer for his aggression against Kuwait. Recall that Al Qaida formed during the mid-90's. It's quite possible that we might have been able to focus on them, rather than being incessantly distracted by inspections and maintaining an economic and military embargo against Saddam. Hawk
