Japan had been expanding into Manchuria, Taiwan and developing a bit of a Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere, which wasn't always welcome in China. The point remains, using your logic, the US had no business getting involved in conflicts between two non-democratic Imperial rivals. And I understand your bias towards "Tradeable Citizenship".. Would be nice if we could to that with Marriage, Children, and Relatives.. Hawk
