What I see is a company that finally gets it. Their own OS and on multiple devices. HP is big enough to pull it off. It's not easy to field a new OS like this. Apple pulled it off with OSX etc but it's not easy.

Very impressive. Very innovative. A big gamble too.

If I understand what they are attempting to do. From my observation of what they are attempting to do Jon Rubinstein may be an under-rated visionary. This may be beyond Apple's vision. Certainly thier vision is beyond google's.

If they are successful they WILL challenge Apple... and Microsoft is probably sweating like Balmer's pits. Softie doesn't get it at all. All of a sudden one of their biggest customers has a full OS.

They have some devices they demonstrated today that are not in production or priced yet. May get introduced this summer. We'll see.

They do not have the store/content store/ App store ecosystem

They do not have much of a retail presence

That puts them pretty far behind. Will they stand a chance to catch up? For the tablet it will depend, in part, on the price.
