Simple for responsible parents. But those aren't the ones with the obese kids.

unless and until gov't improves student meals, the answer is to pack your own food. simple.

jxn has never eaten a school lunch.

He hasn't wanted to...but then again, he is an even pickier eater than me.

Michelle wants to treat a symptom. The reason that obesity isn't a problem in my neighborhood is that the parents are veryy involved in their children's lives. The kids know that they are loved and have boundaries. Most kids bring lunch to school because their parents take the time to pack a lunch for them.

Basically, when the parents in the low income neighborhoods start parenting their kids, their kids will stop turning to destructive behavior to fill the gaping holes in their souls. Until then...

Like gov food or not, when my boys were in school I packed them a lunch every day. I didn't find out until much later that they regularly sold those lunches to other kids on a regular basis. I guess my sandwiches were quite famous, and popular, so being the young capitalists they are, they sold them to the highest bidder and used the money to buy pizza and pop. They bought remote control cars and baseball cards with the profits. ggg
