>some people think it's the next mci?< There is a common belief that consolidation of telecom companies will and has to continue (because of the newly formed giant). In this picture Sprint seems like a good takeover target. However "who can buy them?" is a question. Would AT&T wanna buy Sprint? I don't think so because that would not create the synergies which a merger with a local phone operator (like GTE) would bring. So in the big picture, IMO, Sprint remains a good (relatively small) target, however when would such a takeover materialize is very unclear. Therefore people hoping and betting on such a scenerio may have to wait for a while.

Something keeps amazing me a great deal. How do investors/traders in countries like Brazil, Hungary, Russia, Hong Kong deal with "beyond my mind" market swings? They act like large roulette tables. 10% up, 12% down, 7% up, 5% down unbelievable. Over here I have a hard time dealing with +- 2% swings. They must have much stronger stomachs.

FWIW

I have some good friends at Sprint and I worked for them up until 2 years ago. There have been rumors churning for months of a buy out. I DO NOT own any of their stock, however, they are one of the last companies with that type of global presence many in the telecom industry are looking for.

Being a former Sprint person I have to say they probably won't be the next MCI...I personally believe they are better.
