RE: "Tommaso, >>Well, here's how NOT to invest during a bear market: ... This poor guy is in trouble..hopefully he can get through this without doing something dumb. Looks at Michael Burkes thread their is another post from this guy. He is anxious."

Yes, I am sympathetic also. My guess is that he is someone who has no business actively trading stocks. Maybe he should only be in the market with a small percentage of his financial assets.

He is still holding on, but he is very nervous. There are many others in the same position. Another big down shock and he will probably sell out in a panic. That will be the time to buy.

Best wishes,

I2

Not to go in for reverse sexism, but that guy needs to listen to his wife and take what's left of the family fortune out of all those tech stocks and put it in the bank. But who am I to get myself flamed on that thread?

Joan/Tommaso:

Joan states:

hmmmm.... very interesting comments! It always amazes me how the poor Bears after 6-7 years of losing over and over and over and over get a huge smile on their face the moment the continuing bull market runs into a little bump here and there! I do not know you and have no idea how your investment strategy has been. However from the way you express yourself I can only conclude that you are one of the bears who have been praying day and night for this market to be shaken out just so you can say I was right! As your concerns for me thank you, it is truly considerate of you! But rest assured I am not the poor guy in trouble who hopefully can get through this without doing something dumb! as Joan states! In fact I am about to make the greatest returns of my past 13-14 years investment life with the idiotic sell off that is going on (thanks to people such as yourself)!

Anyway, as someone who has 85% of his assets invested in the stock market (100% in the high tech sector) for the past 6 years I have to admit to the following: Do I get deepressed over the past 3-4 weeks of market volatility and decline? But of course! Do I get anxiety to see my paper profits melt down and turn into losses temporarily? But of course! Do I get nervous and worried about the investments I have done? But of course NOT! Reason (just to avoid repeating myself here is the link to what I think:)

Now let me also define what investment is NOT:

1. Buying equities on margin
2. Playing options
3. Playing derivatives
4. Shorting stocks
5. Just sitting there and putting your money under your pillow or in a CD
6. Just sitting there and watching the market go up and down without participating in it, and then saying: I am the smartest of all because eventhough I dont make my money work for me, but at least I do not have to go through the turmoils and volatiliy either!
