' Ancor has been asked to demo the Sun equipment also and it is just logistics at this point.'

The release says that SUN is using Brocade's switch not Brocade
demoing SUN equipment.

Tom-One thing is that Brocade certainly knows how to get bang for their buck with press releases. Your comment does point out the geographical advantage that Brocade has in pursuing the SUN business.
Is this an ongoing demonstration at SUN or Brocade booth(assuming that they have one) at Comdex or just a one time event on the COMDEX schedule. They certainly didn't give the usual information like what booth to go see them at. While Brocade is usually fuzzy on the details in press releases, they certainly stay very focused on their story. They banged home the DEC win and by having SUN in the same announcement you would think they were a vendor of SUN's or soon to be.

Tom,

Have to say that if Ancor was asked to do this demo and they declined, in my opinion they made a mistake. The question you have to ask yourself, if you were a manager with little FC knowledge and Sun never names a high-end switch OEM, whose switch will you be most likely to buy?

I think the answer is - the one you saw in the demo.

Just my opinion,

George D.

Another thought about Brocade's demo, Brocade will be using only Sun's disk arrays and Dec's servers(not sure if both will appear in the same configuration). It seems to be that it is a last minute thing, not well thought out pre-planned demo. It's Brocade is saying 'present'. If I were Brocade, I would run demo of Sun's latest and greatest servers and disk arrays together with FC_AL and switching capabilities in a single switch. That way, us ancorites will be depressed for a few days.
