That's a major thing that worries me about ellison. His insecure ego is so big that he's obsessed with being the number 2 software company behind Bill. That obsession could really mess up the company. Although I see a place for NC's I wouldn't be so quick to write off Microsoft yet. Look at the Citrix winframe approach. Ellison also doesn't use his own systemn for things that need local storage and performance like games. That's why i was worried he'd do something stupid like buy out apple. Every night he's goes to sleep thinking in childish testtosterone laden concepts: My market cap is 1/5 the size of bill gates...my market cap is 1/5 the size of bill gates... and all the world can see.

This ego stuff is the same thing that undid Phillppe Kahn and Mitch Kapor.

Don't get me wrong I like the story, but I don't trust Ellison to focus on the best interests of the shareholders...

>Yesterday Ellison repeated his predictions that Microsoft would be overtaken eventually by a new generation of cheaper network computers.

Ellison should try to use NC from his home with either ISDN or 56K connection, and he will understand the true world. I agree NC will have some market, but not larger enough to overtake MSFT. At least not right now.
