Thanks, excellent charts. It's possible to correlate housing prices versus a list of other variables, like average hourly wages, or as a multiple of average household income. Whatever method is used, it has to take inflation into account.

I hadn't realized, houses have gotten so much bigger over the last 40 years. Is that "average square feet" for all houses, or just new construction in that year?
