This is a good observation. The 200K shares purchase
by Invesco is below the 5% SEC threshold, so that
it was below our radar screen. It would be really nice
to know what all this folks see in MLIN, except for the
possibility of a takeover.

DD - I hadn't heard the news, (but that doesn't mean it's new !) It
would be good news if it is a recent purchase.

I've been looking through the 10-Q recently filed. There isn't much
that we don't already know, but I did find the buy-back data of
interest.

The data is expressed over a number of periods, and I've done some
calculations to break the purchases into smaller groups as follows -

In 1996 they bought 756k shares for $5.7m or $ 7.50/share
In H1 97 they bought 385k shares for $5.1m or $13.25/share (ouch !)
In Q3 97 they bought 195k shares for $1.8m or $ 9.23/share

They say they had approval to spend $13.5m over the above periods,
and so had $0.9m unused at the end of the period. They also say that
subsequent to Q3 (i.e. in October) they approved a further $1.5m for
share buy back.

By my reckoning that gives them $2.4m in the kitty..... (unless the
unused approvals have expired). As recently ago as Q3 they believed
that $9.23 was a good price. Soooo, I guess the question is, what
buy do they think is a good buy-back price at the moment ?

At around $8, they can buy about 300k. This would probably make a
reasonable dent in the share fluidity.......

Hum ?
