Mike G.

I am pretty sure that Matsushita will have to pay royalty fee to Sandisk. MEC is actually a strategic partner of Sandisk and acts as a fab for Sandisk. So may be this is a Sandisk's product in disguise. I look at the Sandisk site and their Type II 150MB flash disk uses the double bit 80Mb flash chip that Sandisk just released along with NEC. So 160MB makes more sense than 150MB. 150MBytes seems like an odd multiple of 80Mbit. But I got an idea. This is like the hard drive company. They would sell you a 3.1 Gig drive but really you get a 3.2 Gig drive. The extra bytes is just in case the hard drive has a lower yield and the manufacturers warranty you that you will get at least 3.1 Gig. Same here. With ATA technology, you can format out the bad memory locations, so a 150MB flash disk may be really a 160MB flash disk. Just guessing.

I called Sandisk today to ask about the secondary, left a message but get no return call yet. May be I will send an e-mail.

Mike.
