Most investments at the end of the day involve some sort of material. Cyberspace itself needs fibre, semiconductors, etc., to power it.

If there is nothing material behind any investment, run like hell from them. Good examples are CDS where there is a bet that something or other will or will not happen.

Investments in vaporous financial instruments are to be avoided like the plague.

At least two other unnamed parties are interested in the portfolio as well--although earlier reports from sister publication FierceWireless named ZTE, Apple, and Huawei as being in the running, particularly for Nortel's LTE patents.
