Daniel, I think your taking this a little personally, I guess that's why I post to you. To address your points:
IS-95 cdma success or failure is relevant to this thread. It is obvious that cdma is gaining strength, come on, you think its losing ground? $10 vs. 200-500 (check the ads) seems to indicate some insights to demand as well as profit in the US (of course maybe you want to ignore that market). The wireless sales people at stores I frequent, don't like the ericy phones, something I take note of. Ericy may be losing money they could have made by manufacturing IS-95 products. If you don't think the simplified arguments and observations are compelling, we are in disagreement. We are here to maximize our $, not stick up for companies.

Sometimes I get too happy so I come over here for a little abuse.

Caxton

This is what I know and is fact. In a recent survey people said when they were watching TV and it was a little snowy it didn't bother most as long as they could watch the show. Phones are the same thing as far as I'm concerned and most people I talk with agree with that. As long as a person gets a dial tone and makes a connection and is able to talk to the other party that is the bottom line. How much does is cost for a phone is really the bottom line. How many of us have bought a TV ? Think about it , there are TV's that cost twice as much as others of the same size that deliver high quality pictures plus picture in picture and great sounds. Are most buyers willing to pay for these added values or extras ? I have 9 TV's in my home and the only thing at this point I would up-grade is my PC . There is top of the line of everything but 90% can't afford top line. There is nothing wrong with analog telephony besides volume. ERICY is attacking problem by trying to develop a third generation system (3g) and avoiding QCOM's IS-95 (narrow Band). This is not fact but my opinion : This is a long shot but ERICY is going to court on 12/15/97 with IDC over a TDMA issue but currently IDC , Siemens and Samsung have a wide band or broadband thing that works with the exception it lacks mobility. I look for ERICY from now until 12/15/97 to join this consortium . This is my opinion but I'm probably wrong as usual.
