Patience. I am still short Avant! (pronounced CROOKS), and was a bit puzzled that the stock went up today. I think it was just following the silly market. Sometimes outright scams like Avant! or grossly overvalued companies such as Yahoo! can seem to hang in midair against all logic and reason. If you're a short-seller and track the day-to-day price movements, it's difficult to keep your faith in the fundamentals - especially if the price moves against you in the short term. There is NO doubt that Avant! will eventually receive its comeuppance (so will Yahoo! for that matter). I never count on a one-day "meltdown". I was short Zitel since early 1997, and it took nearly a year for the stock to break down to its current levels - even though it was obvious from the outset that the company was worthless. Remember, if there weren't any bad investors out there, there would be no one to short to. Ironically, we should be encouraging small investors who are fans of these companies to buy more of the stock!
