>>I doubt AMAT will go much higher considering that 45% of their sales go to Asia, Japan and Korea who are all suffering through very difficult times. I think estimates will be cut drastically on AMAT in coming days. <<

You have any links on where any semi or computer company has said this asian crisis will have a serious impact on earnings?
I think by now most semi's companies have said asian crisis will not have an impact on earnings. Only INTC said they wont make up the 5-10% in europe. SUNW is hurting a little bit but not enough so shave off 25 points from its high of 55 justa month or so ago.
The drug companies will certainly get hurt since they do actually sell in asia. But TXN has made the most press releases about have NO IMPACT at all due to the current asian crisis. 97 has been one of the best years for the semi's in the book to bill ratio in almost 5 years and visibility for the next 6-9 months looks excellent IE they are booked more than ever before.
I am just wondering where this asian crisis came out all off a sudden.. After all asians have been suffering for a while now, decades, in and out with a few years of prosperity now and then. The people of good ole us of a have selective problem, hear when its proper to hear, see when its proper to see, do when its proper to do.. Proper is defined by the people who gets the most out of a situation. But it sure looks strange that the proper people have been accumulating a lot of selective shares in companies thats going to have major problems due to this asian crisis..
