So why did O not veto the extension?

Why has he enlarged and expanded all of Bush's worst policies?

Here are the "I do know better" actual numbers. 54% of the deficit WITHOUT touching the corporate subsidies and handouts were caused by the Bush Tax Cuts. economicpolicyresearch.org;

That is a purely static estimate that assumes a) the top earners will sit still to be fleeced, instead of moving money into tax shelters like they always have when the top rates were high, and b) that tax rates have no effect on economic growth, which would seem to be belied by the fact that Federal tax revenues climbed 40% in the five years after the Bush tax cuts.

I have noticed an oddity about Democratic-leaning tax analyses: when the subject is proposed Democratic tax hikes, the assumption is that the tax model is perfectly static. But let Republicans discuss some tax changes, suddenly the Democrats remember that economic activity changes in response to the tax laws. Very peculiar.

The rest of the 70% can be attributed to the corporate handouts, tax holidays and general scams that find Exxon, GE, Google and Morgan Stanley smiling broadly while working Americans are getting royally screwed.

It's under Obama's Government-by-subsidy-and-by-waiver that GE pays no taxes. Why on earth pretend that Big Government is a cure for this instead of the major cause?
