Hi Savolainen,
First, this morning an Israeli paper says that ORCTF and Rockwell are
together working on HDSL2 chip sets which will be installed in fast
modems of Rockwell.
I dont know about ORCTF and GDC but I'll try to collect information.
I heard , from a German source, about ORCTF and Siemens expecting to
market the VDSL of ORCTF.
I heard and spoke with Tamir during R&S conference last week.I did'nt
post because no news were stated.
He was very much optomistic about his company performance and especially against the targets and promises they put in the IPO.
I asked about the one million lines tender and he did not give any information beside saying that if somebody win it does not promise
deployment as he said was the case in Australia.(I think NEC won).
He said HDSL2 will be at the end of 1998 and when I asked if that
with Rockwell he denied but I saw it, as mention above ,in the paper this monday morning. He said during 1998 VDSL will be signed in Europe
and I heard it is Siemens.
He spoke about signing soon with large distributor in the U.S. and the same one for Europe for I think, the retail or pc market.
I guess you read about talks that failed of merger between ECILF and
PAIR.This is to tell us that ECILF which is very srong for many years
in Europe knows that the ADSL has huge potential and they need it badly.I guess ORCTF rejected alot of takeover offers from ECILF.
Tamir said also that major U.S. telecom is runing an ADSL trial right now
but he said the U.S trials are less intensive that are done in Europe.

Shlomi.
