I don't know who wrote this sentence but they quite obviously weren't aware of the origins of Medicare Advantage. Congress allowed MA insurers an additional 11%. There was NEVER an intent that the COVERAGE would be less expensive; they knew it was going to be more expensive. But the point was to provide more comprehensive, managed care because the belief was that would result in overall long-term costs going down. I don't know where the contradiction is...the fed gov established a SUBSIDY for MA...so these plans cost the gov more...both points correctly stated in the article...that subsidy is going away under obama care saving us $$...savings your side has demonized on the one hand, and on the other ryan's plan would eliminate medicare completely...consistent isn't it?
