The rest of the industrialized world is doing better mainly because of lifestyle. I love how the French and Italians can eat huge feasts yet not suffer as much obesity thanks to all the walking they have to do.

However, there are many, many problems that the rest of the world has encountered WRT universal health care. I've followed some of the complications that Great Britain, Canada, and South Korea had to endure, and I'm not sure people would be willing to tolerate them here. Maybe you would, but you seem to realize that there is no free lunch.
