Paul; If V was just to fine tune AMD to competency, perhaps they will simply follow the leader from now on.
I think that V would have stayed had he been fully content. He is just nice enough to not strike back at AMD.
How to assess AMD future with no V?

Paul,

Acutally your timeline is a little wrong, the nx5x86 went on to be the K5, the original K5 was remained the K5x86 (or something along those lines)..

At least that what I THINK happened, I could be wrong.. that was so long ago in CPU terms ;-)
