Getting machines to mimic intelligence at our current state of computer development is mainly a matter of programming the machines to consider ALL the factors involved in a decision, and correctly weigh them to come to a correct action. Which is an incredibly tedious, painstaking job that requires MASSIVE amounts of programming and ultra-fast machines.

In software 101, one of the first exercises is to attempt to write a "program" (as if you needed one) to tie your own shoes. Try it! It gives you an idea of how tedious it is to get a blank-slate computer to do ANYTHING!

The time to FEAR the machines is when we've figured out how to give them more primitive qualities, like the DRIVE to live, eat and breed.
