Trump is splitting hairs when he tries his best to bring out some distinction between "certificate of birth" and "birth certificate."

I don't think Hawaii was a state when he was born. There are many countries even today where babies are delivered at home. They do not have to necessarily have to have a baby like they do in the US. Neither are marriages necessarily registered in a court in some of these countries.

Having said that, I wonder if this is a attempt by some (a minority) who are trying to send a message that Obama is not one of us since his birth record was not registered the proper way. If that is so then why is it a law that the State Deptt. follows when issuing a US passport based on the "certificate of birth." Issuance of the passport based on that certificate is an acknowledgement that he is a US citizen. That is the law. Are some people saying that they do not acknowledge it as a law and want to change it. Then they need to move it through the proper process that all the Hawaiians and possibly even the Alaskans born before a particular date either produce "birth certificates" or be denied the issuance of a US passport.

If Obama has already produced that document then Trump should cease his ongoing inquiry and shut up on the issue.

The state of Hawaii already has produced the necessary documentation. Ironically, McCain wasn't born in the US and yet no one is questioning his citizenship......which leads me to believe that those who are questioning Obama's either have racist motivations or a desire to weaken Obama's position in the upcoming presidential race.

What do you think?

Yaaaaaawn... Don't you think the right wing examined this issue to death in 2008? Don't you think they would have paid any amount of money to anyone who could produce any evidence that the Certificate of Live Birth was somehow invalid, or that Obama was born elsewhere? All that's been produced is misinformation and speculation.

If one thinks the document is insufficient, check the newspapers. Obama's birth was noted in local newspapers.

You're giving Trump waaaay too much credit. Wealth is not a valid measure of intelligence.

I think it’s probably unlikely that Donald Trump would have made these ongoing references to the validity of what Obama has presented, with regard to his actual place of birth, if he didn’t believe that there was some merit in his argument.
