That doesn't seem logical to me. It's in your possession. It's your responsibility to protect it, right? If somebody steals the TV from my house it's not the fault of the TV manufacturer.

I don't get the hand wringing at all.

There is much more sensitive data on my iPhone than that. I know because I put it there myself. I would presume that's true for the vast majority of us, including people with Android phones.
