>>P.S. Ignore flames and flamers and they go away. I may soon have ready for release a version of a program I wrote that bulk-downloads SI posts for me so I can read them off line (much much faster going between posts). I'm in the process of writing in a "killfile" feature that lets me skip downloading posts containing kill words (e.g. "Pierre-X" <g>).<<

i wish everybody would abide by this advice. responding to a clearly disturbed individual who craves the attention trading insults affords him does nothing but mess up the thread. i would have missed your report on the annual meeting because i was nexting thru the garbage so quickly i actually passed over it the first time. so please guys, take a deep breath and restrain yourselves from responding to insults and drivel.

Pierre-X: "Samsung to be a major HDD player by 2000":
infoseek.com
Z (or someone else) in the HDD thread said to have called QNTM and SEG. Neither company took Samsung's claim seriously. Both companies were more serious about Fujitsu's move.
I also heard from someone attending WDC's annual share holder meeting (I could not break away.)that Chuck of WDC responded similarly.
American HDD and box nmakers are very competitive now, not only in pricing but also service, quality, etc. You got to be play all things right to gain market share. Toshiba recently was toppled off by CPQ as the number 1 laptop box maker in the world clearly demonstrates American's competitive edge.
Of course, I hope that all US HDD makers take note of Samsung's claim. Maybe, this Fujitsu's price aggression is not that bad for the long term.
John

Pierre-X: Sounds great! I'd love to get a copy when you're done. Like to use it for posters like TBowl-Grant.
