i received the following answers from IR at VVUS:

1.) Has VVUS received full approval to manufacture MUSE from the FDA and are
they fulling compliant in their manufacturing techniques?

Yes,we are approved to manufacture and sell MUSE in the US. The FDA
does have some issues with VIVUS current production facility but they
have not slowed down our production capacity.

2.) is it true the FDA has shut down VVUS in production of MUSE for failure
to comply with approved manufacturing techniques? (there is a rumor to the
effect that
production has been shut down)

NO

3.) What is the status of the new manufacturing plant being built? Is there
an estimated time for its openning?

The new plant is expected to be approved by the FDA during the first quarter
of 1998

4.) Any estimates available for UK approval?
4Q97

5.) Any other positive information you would be willing to provided would be
greatly appreciated, and widely disseminated.

You can email me your phone number or call me directly with additional
questions.

Thank you,

Nina Ferrari

HealthNews: New Name, Treatments for Impotence

"The MUSE system (Medicated Urethral System for Erection) uses a disposable applicator to squirt a premeasured dose of alprostadil-the main drug used in injection therapy-into the opening at the tip of the penis. This causes minimal discomfort. Just as with injections, the drug relaxes penile arteries and increases blood flow, beginning an erection. Clinical trials show that it works for approximately 60 percent of men.

A new oral drug called sil-denafil (Viagra), now in clinical trials, appears to be at least as effective as vacuum devices and injection therapy. A tablet taken a few hours before sexual activity boosts levels of artery-relaxing agents inside the penis. This drug doesn't create an erection; instead, it amplifies the reaction to sexual signals. :"

mmmmmm...........doesn't create an erection???

>>mark: dont you think the uk approval and the new plant are built into the stock price?<<

They were built in when VVUS hit 41 7/8. What's built into the stock price now is:

(1) fear that Viagra will be approved on April Fool's Day, 1998 in the U.S., with foreign approvals following within 30 days;

(2) Concern that unexplained delays with "imminent" plant and UK approvals means that both are either in jeopardy, or will be granted just before Viagra approval, depriving VVUS of the benefit of its "head start".

I can't quantify the impact of UK and plant approvals, but either one will push VVUS above 30, if it's not already there by the time they are announced.
