And Trudeau won on a pledge that he would not implement price and wage controls.

Of course, the standard rebuttal is that "things changed", so I had to change my position accordingly. And when a new party takes power, there is always the "We knew things were bad, but we had no idea that they were this bad. The previous government hid skeletons in every closet".

Just like a new CEO who comes in and cleans house.

Partly agree, and also disagree. Had you done more DD you may have concluded that "one country, two corporate tax structures" was not sustainable. Many did just that.

Ultimately, we can probably agree that most politicians are inept, and all investors must take full responsibility for their investments.
