>>> They believe that "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" were HIS words.

I don't know of anyone who believes that, nor do I believe anyone who is paying attention COULD believe that. That speech, one of the most important of the last 100 years, the one that ENDED THE COLD WAR, has been chronicled in detail for years now.

What Reagan is ALWAYS acknowledged for is having the backbone to include the line against the recommendations of his State Department and national security teams, who were pussyfooting.

Obama's "Director of Speech Writing" is a punk kid with no meaningful life experience. The (now 30 year old) was a 24 year old kid when he wrote the speech that put Obama on the map.

He could just as easily have landed a job selling cellphones at Verizon. This is the substance of these speeches.

Peggy Noonan was known to be a speechwriter ... but it was Reagan who decided what was said ... and yes, he choose to say "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall."

Reagan's supporters often believed he wrote his own speeches. They believe that "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" were HIS words.

It was just the scripts from the role of his life, president of the US.

You have to wonder at what stage in his presidency did the Alzheimer's kick in. After all, this is not the first time he confused a movie role with real life.

I heard a funny thing on GPS - the death of bin Laden was the result of a decade of work from the intelligence community.

But the forty-year plan to contain and defeat the Soviet Union ALL goes to Reagan - who was happily there when it fell!

Rs have such few successes that when the opportunity does arise.....which are rare as well......they grab the sucker and hold on for dear life even if its premise is on shaky ground.
