"The rarer oil is the more valuable each drop of it is. "

If you are stranded on a life raft and have a quart of water....do you drink it all the first day???

"So the weakest argument for the side you oppose is wrong. So what? Who cares? Its not quite bashing a straw man (because there are some who actually make or at least imply such an argument), but its not very useful. "

Sorry, I don't know what you're trying to say here....

"Drilling probably won't bring prices down quickly, and almost certainly won't do so to any significant extent. But it will bring prices down years from now. If we had allowed drilling ten years ago, we would have lower prices now. "

No one has ever prevented drilling that would have made a difference today.... Thousands of wells have been drilled and millions of square miles are available and leased that have never been touched.... If you dispute the production data, I'd like to hear what you've got...

I know you seem to be a proponent of instant profit, but I don't think that's very thoughtful.....

"ts unlikely to be a meager amount. Years away from development could be a good argument to start now (if it took days we could use it a strategic reserve leaving it in the ground, if it takes years, it better to actually take it out)."

What do you call a meager amount?? Why, other than instant gratification, would you tap it ? Would something like 5 billion barrels make a difference??????
