The USGPS council members are being proactive about an Inmarsat proposal to share the radio frequency used for GPS signals. I think it is very unlikely that this will come to pass, because the US and Nato military alliances will never allow it to happen. As I understand it, If it does happen it could degrade the signal specially for military type receivers. I am not sure what we can do to fight this. The appeal is directed to users in foreign countries. I am not sure who the regulatory authority is for international frequency allocation. Chances are that a workable solution will be worked out for all concerned.

The good news is that even if this proposal is eventually adopted The fight will drag on for several years because of all the studies and disputes that this will raise.
