If AMD doesn't begin shipping K6's in VERY HIGH volume by April 2, 1998 (the one year K6 anniversary, by the way) they will have missed the opportunity to make a significant profit on that product. Intel will have dropped the prices of their Pentium MMX to a point where AMD will be only marginally profitable on their high speed grades.

By that, I mean AMD's 0.25 micron process and K6+ had better be in high gear at that time. Intel will rapidly be transitioning their customers to the Slot 1/Pentium II so that AMD's K6 costs will have to be cut to the bone to allow for a profit to be made, selling on cost as the most important selling point.
