AT - I agree that news, earnings anticipation and fundamentals are more important than technical analysis. On the other hand, the question was asking for a technical viewpoint.

Lots of things can happen and the technicals are the tracks left by the market reacting to fundamentals and speculation. One needs to only look at KLIC's week before earnings for a roadmap. The price ran up, the earnings were announced, the conference call was upbeat and the price headed back south.

I think the run up this week for AMAT, if other events do not effect it in some way, will be muted due to options expiration on Friday among other things. I also don't think the market is ready to go back into rally mode just yet.

But based strictly on technicals, I stand by my previous post.
