Ibexx, Betty, Greg and Thread,

News from RMBS :

1. All three contenders (synchronous DRAM(SDRAM)(eg. Hyundai), double-data-rate DRAM (eg. Samsung), and Rambus DRAM (RDRAM))(eg. LG Semicon and of course Intel) are there at Comdex :

2. Nec turns virtual channel on memory latencies.

This is commented as a move, if I understand correctly, to force
Intel to turn away from RDRAM and adopt DDRAM :
------snip
For its part, NEC said it has no immediate plans to offer Virtual Channel DRAMs with a Direct Rambus interface, and will instead offer 64-Mbit DDR and SGRAM devices in the second half of 1998. They will use a DRAM array organized into two banks, and support up to 16 virtual channels per chip, each with its own SRAM page buffer and burst controller. NEC's decision to start out with SDRAM could backfire if Intel's plan to deploy Direct RDRAMs in volume starting in 1999 takes hold. On the other hand, NEC's bet to forgo Direct Rambus on its new DRAM core could pressure Intel to adopt DDR DRAMs.
-------end of snip

Will Corporate America lose another DRAM battle against Far-East shibatsus ?

3. Visions for the low cost PC of the future : development cycles fasten up every quarter.

Very interesting times. Do we have to consider there is "significant change" in RMBS market since last August ?
