Sorry Green - IMO anyone who underestimates Obama is playing right into his hands.

Barak Obama is no doubt a very shrewd political operator. You simply cannot get to where he is without being one.

Over time I saw that he is able to think on his feet. He is definitely not a dumb individual. He can also be pretty bad... Some of his statements, like the one about the 50 thousand dollar limb amputations, could serve as a textbook examples of arrogance and stupidity.

Ideologically, he is an instinctive statist, what i like to call a "proto-Socialist". He is very consistent in this respect, to the point of appearing inflexible and unable - or unwilling - to learn.

Claims that Obama is a great intellectual reveal more about those who make them than about the President. What makes him an intellectual heavyweight? The couple of autobiographical books? There are some pretty serious claims that even those accomplishments required a good deal of help from "his friends".

He may have the mannerisms of a very intelligent person - but as far as content goes, it could be, rather generously, said that the jury is... still out.
