"The term "death panel" was not an unfair characterization"

You certainly didn't admit that at the time. It was all good then.

"When you have government determining who will and will not get treatment based on QALY, it is highly suggestive of a "death panel"."

It wasn't part of the bill. Besides, that sort of thing happens now, except it is done by the insurance companies with no chance of oversight.

"Here you are, criticizing mild attempts by the Republicans to characterize liberal policy in an unfavorable light"

Mild? Only because it was on your side. It is all about partisanship with you, isn't it?

"and in the next paragraph supporting one of the most repugnant political advertisements the D's have ever created."

I notice that you didn't address the fact that the Republicans were doing this before and the Democrats were just responding in kind.

It is repugnant. But so is much of what the Right poops out. The fact of the matter is it works. And it is sad that the Democrats have to stoop to this to compete at all.

And that is what bothers you, isn't it? Nothing is too low for the Republicans, as long as they can chalk a win. But if the Democrats do anything vaguely similar, they are utter scum...
