The Dems rarely ever play hardball any more...Too bad someone like Lyndon Johnson wasn't running the party or the Senate today...many of the decision makers in the Dem party today have caved in to pressure from the lobbyists and the Hard Right Wing factions have tremendous influence (and often they seem to be better negotiators)...Look how Big Oil, Big Coal, Big Pharma, Wall Street, and the Military Industrial Complex still seem to get their way...Do we really have some comprehensive checks and balances in place...??
