Uh........the truth is Austria does not speak the same German as Germany does. I suspect like the Swiss, the Austrians speak high German which is considerably different than the German spoken by Germans. Besides, its not unusual for an American to say that a guy from the UK speaks British.......even though its actually a form of English.

"I don’t know what the term is in Austrian .. " Barack Obama, Strasbourg, France

Dude, most people wouldn't know that about Afghanistan.....is the president supposed to know the language of every country in the world? I don't think so.

As for comparing it to Palin's gaffes, forget Afghanistan, repeatedly, Palin has made clear she doesn't know American history.

Obama posited -- incorrectly -- that Arabic translators deployed in Iraq are needed in Afghanistan -- forgetting, momentarily, that Afghans don't speak Arabic.

"We only have a certain number of them and if they are all in Iraq, then its harder for us to use them in Afghanistan," Obama said.

"That's just outright ignorance and indicative of a lack of education."

Tejek, apparently not aware that Obama made those gaffes.
