No wonder those Berliners dont understand Austrian or Swiss German. Few people understand their Volapük either :) Around the corner Bavaria/Austria/Switzerland, the dialect is all very related. Moving away from there some of the local dialects like Bavarian or Schwitzerdütch all get a little bit special. Around Stuttgart they speak Schwäbisch, my former secretary 30 years ago - she came from Franken (Northern Bavaria) didn't understand hoot of that. I never had a problem with any of those local tongues, though. /Taro
