Call AOL. They have something they download to your PC that increases your speed.
The tech mentioned it when I called on a problem.

Kirk, If your browser can display "Statistics" --
View Statistics, Then click on IP.
Then look for "Retransmitted" or "Rejected" Frames.

This should give you a hint if the problem is a Transmit, or
Receive problem.

Then we (or you) can proceed from there.

**OFF Topic** Kirk,<<just purchased a HP 8140 pavilion with 56flex and I'm connecting slower (26400) than i did with with an off brand 33.6(connected at 38400). Did all the settings etc..., no matter what i do it's 26400 max and i'm with aol so i know they support it.>>

I'll make you a deal (I'm serious). I have an USRX x2 modem that connects at 33,333 every time to the local AOL x2 POP here in Myrtle Beach, SC. I will ship you my USRX modem including installation CD, manuals etc. if you will ship me your k56flex modem. AOL just opened a k56flex POP here and I'm interested in knowing if I'll have any better luck with a k56 modem. So is it a deal ? Neither one of us could do any worse than what we're doing now ! Like you I was connecting at 33.6k or better with the "no name" modem that came with my PC. If you're interested drop me an email at rfelectron@aol.com

Thanks,

Lee

PS- Normally I'd just trash the x2 and go buy a k56flex but since I bought 12k ASND at avg. of 44, I've been feeling kind of poor lately. :o)
