On your recommendation I installed Free Easeus 2.5 and like it. Is very easy to install and use. Did both a data file backup and image which was simple, straightforward and relatively fast. Have not tried restoring the image, but when mounting it seemed to be all there.

Question for all. Can I have both Acronis 2011 and Easeus installed and run them separately to two different external drives. Probably overkill, but would seem to be an extra backup for peace of mind. Beside, I prefer the email backup on Acronis.

stock bull, I tried Easeus Todo and made a total backup image. Instructions were simple and clear [better than Acronis'] and it took only 15 minutes vs almost 30 with Acronis.

But it would only let me select a HD to restore to - not a partition on that HD. So, when I selected HD2 it said 'but the image is on that HD' [or similar] and did nothing [even though the image is on a different partition.

I admit, I have not read instructions yet.

I tried both, Easeus and Paragon and both have problem with active partition where I have my Windows installed. Uff. Good that computer still works ;-)

When I bought computer over a year ago, I couldn't find partitioning program that would work with 64bit version Win7. Because of this I used build in Win7 partition program.

I remember, I could not make data partition bigger than system. Thought it was win7 partition program limitation. Now I wonder...

If I do: HDD/properties/tools/Error-checking

everything is OK

Is there anything else I can do to scan/check for disk errors?

Thanks in advance
