on Afghanistan the right decision is to get out -- sooner rather than later...Hillary and the Military Industrial Complex (represented by many of the top Generals) want to keep more troops there longer...Obama took Biden's centrist approach for a gradual drawdown in troops BUT it will take years to get out of there at that pace...A strong leader would make the case to the country, to Congress and other stakeholders that we can't afford a big footprint in Afghanistan any longer...and it is NOT making us any safer to continue the war of choice over in Afghanistan...There will be instability in Afghanistan if we leave in the next 6 months and the same thing will be true if we leave in 6+ years...so why not get over 90% of the troops out of Afghanistan by the end of 2011..?? Who cares what the Generals and hawkish think tanks say. Do what's right for our country and re-direct our resources as we must start to do much more nation building at home...Our country has UNDERspent on the rebuilding of crucial infrastructure at home by several trillion dollars...and we can't afford to play expensive war games and do critical spending at home at the same time...Life's a series of compromises and a strong president would get us almost totally OUT of Afghanistan in 2011 -- who cares what kind of political pressure you have to deal with as it's the right thing to do...over 2/3 of all American citizens want to get out Afghanistan and END the war now -- and it's the popular and appropriate thing to do.
