As per Gann's net worth, I never saw his equity run or reviewed his W2 so I could not tell you what he did with his dough.. If Gann died broke( and I seriouly question that) then my guess is he lost it betting ponies at the track not trading :-)

I will say that even if what you say is true, it would not surprise me.
Making money and keeping it are two completely different arts.

Can speak from experience. I for one am pretty good at the first but need some work on the learning the keep it part. The sharper image catalog was made for people like me:-) A true gadget guy!

Whats the thing about the guy that wins is the one who dies with the most toys? :-)

As for your other questions. Many many people use both Gann's as well as other time tested works all the time. Success will vary. Making money trading encompasses several aspects outside simply finding a means to the madness. You have to have a good handle on risk and money management as well as properly invest capital that is not working in the markets. Winning on 9 trades in a row and then risking it all on #10 is a quick way to win 9 battles but lose the war as it where.

The amount of success people have can be measured as follows..
Rumor has it!

God's the best..
God knows every markets high and low for every market every day:-)
A nice guy but last I heard has not personally given anyone a tip or advice for over 2000 years. In other words .. gods good but he ain't talking.

Anyone that has found a method that's really good...but not as good as God... well... they may not be God but by guess they ain't talking either.
The moral is that the best of the best you never hear about. There names are not household words and your not going to get any yellow covered junk mail from them saying here is the opportunity to buy the system of a life time. they are not going to advertise to the world... I just turned $5000 to $40 million! Call me... let me tell you all about it!

Gann or any other method is one where you will find some who swear by it and some who swear at it.

As for recommendations for starting out..hmmmmm... let me think about that one a little... I'd like to know your trading experience and if you have any systems or methods you have tried or are using before doing so.
