Verlander had struck out 13 in a game twice, most recently in 2009. In his last six starts, he’s 6-0 with a 0.72 ERA. He’s struck out 51 and walked six over that span, which doesn’t even include his no-hitter.

Too bad Shields has to pitch in the same division as the Jays. It's bad enough to have Bosox and Yankees and their huge payrolls to contend with, but now a Cy Young candidate?

Just not easy for the Jays, but nice to see them sweep the Cards...RickyRo was outstanding in shutting out the Cards today. Looks like he's a legit #1!

I'm kinda thinking that Jays will be fairly strong in the second half now that they've decided to address the anaemic offense of 3rd base by moving him there, and calling up hot hitting Thames for the outfield.

PS. Left-handed hitting Thames looks like a keeper and may be the offensive spark to ignite Hill and the Jays in the second half. (Jays sorely need some additional offense and power and to have it from the left side of the plate is a bonus!)
