Let me take this little sucker apart for you. first concept you need ot understand. We humans live in tribes. We are social animals. We work together. that iswhat made us strong. But we alos have the ability to imagine compassion. So compassion is both practical and spiritual! <<And this is where you don't understand conservatives. Conservatives tend to give more to charities. Charites simply don't work. In fact during depressions people give less! and before the New Deal the poor and sick lived lives of misery. Old people who needed hip replacement or knw knees could afford them and live their lives out crippled. I had a hip replacement. How is a charity going to rpovide a hip replacement at $25,000? The tribe does that to keep the wisdom of th eold in the tribe and out fo compassion. <<Conservatives care about the weak and crippled and do much to help them. The Tribe has the right to force them to share. Many people are sociopaths and will not share. If they want the safety of the tribe, then they have to share. <<They simply don't want to be forced to do so. Nor do we want to enable those who are lazy or to punish those who simply want to work hard to make a better life for themselves. The real difference between liberals and conservatives is not that one or the other doesn't care about other people, it's that liberals think that it is ok to force charity and conservatives don't. It is OK as said earlier. Maybe you are a sociopath in which case I can understand why you wouldn't want to help? Charity is more than writing a check. Or in the case of the liberal mindset, having it deducted from your paycheck. It is more than just giving some cash because you feel guilty because your life is better than somebody else's. Real charity is about caring. And that can't be mandated by congress. A hip replacement is about caring and writing a check! Before medicare and medicade people did not get hip replacemetns, or like help!
