LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 1997-- Exhibits Power of the Industry-Leading Server Adapter For High Speed Storage Access and Server Clustering Interphase Corporation (Nasdaq/NMS:INPH), an international supplier of enterprise networking technologies, today announced that the company's industry-leading 5526 PCI Fibre Channel Adapter will be used in the Fibre Channel Loop Community's (FCLC) public interoperability demonstration at COMDEX this week in Las Vegas. Interphase's 5526 will provide Fibre Channel connectivity for several servers in the demo which will allow both IP (networking) and SCSI (data) traffic over a common Fibre Channel loop. The demonstration can be seen in the FCLC room, N250, in the Las Vegas Convention Center. The FCLC demonstration features equipment from over 20 leading Fibre Channel vendors. The Fibre Channel demonstration at Comdex provides a good example of how this technology will enable the use of distributed storage topologies to help address these needs. About the 5526 Fibre Channel Adapter Designed for mid-range and high-end server platforms, the 5526 offers superior throughput with a sustained data rate of over 94 MBps and transaction rates in excess of 17,000 I/Os per second. Further enhancing performance is a tightly-integrated PCI architecture based on the Hewlett-Packard Tachyon(TM) protocol engine and the Interphase (i)chipTPI(TM) PCI interface chip. For Microsoft NT environments, the 5526 features an integrated driver supporting both SCSI and IP traffic over a single adapter. This simplifies the implementation of server attachments in a mixed storage and networking protocol environment and reduces the number of adapters that must be installed in a server. The Interphase NT driver implementation also includes FibreView(TM), a powerful GUI-based utility for installation and configuration, which minimizes initial set-up time. With FibreView, users can display, add, modify and delete SCSI ID assignments with relative ease, making it simple to tailor their storage arrangement for specific application requirements. FibreView also offers a complete array of statistical system information useful for tracking storage utilization. In addition to arbitrated loop topologies, the 5526 supports point-to-point and fabric topologies, allowing data stream managers maximized flexibility in building scalable storage area networks.
