well, I downloaded VMware® Player

Now it asks for the XP O.S.

I had given away the disks when I sold the computer

Is there a way to get an XP off the web which is safe?

Just so as I understand, you are running the stock program on a Win_7 desktop as an XP program, and the info will not merge with your netbook XP program. Is that correct?

What communication method do you use to merge the info? Is it a network or a cable, or do you use some other method, like for example a memory stick?

When you had the program on real "actual" XP on the desktop (or whatever) was the merge a lot smoother?
