IV is good, but doesn't hold a candle to this site.

Guess I don't see the certain decline going forward.

This site has been and I believe is going to be self policing.

We share the blame if it goes that way.

(Just somebody reassure me that SI Spam Patrol is staying on the job.)

I tend to agree.

What i would like to see is a semi-private club concept, where quality, not quantity, reigns supreme. That's a club where thousands of thoughtful, open minded and mutually respectful people can advance and sculpt ideas that just might end up improving the national and international conversation.

By eliminating the dreck, many more high quality, even well known, people might come to dwell here.

The club would have a mechanism to quickly remove people who do not value the ideas of others, and who are unwilling to examine their own. This CAN be done fairly. Just a few unpleasant people can drag the whole system down and make those with good ideas go silent.

A key advantage for the new ownership is that eyeballs no longer need drive the decisions. Now quality can be the goal.

Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

"IF SI is going to become a free site, that is the end . Just look at Yahoo and Stockhouse, both completely useless."

I'm not so sure LC. Sure, we had a few pumpers in the early days, but we have them now, some think they are guru's. LOL. IMO, a functional admin is the key.

My recollection of Brad's days is extremely positive.

I use iV as well as SI and have to say that one needs to be careful over there, i.e, don't wander into the quagmire known as the CWEI board at iV. But many, many other boards are quite high in signal-to-noise... so much so that I copy/paste (with attribution) posts from iV to a couple of boards here on SI where there are still enough people who care more about investment discussions that name-calling.

Do you use the same alias at iV? And what are some of the boards there you find useful?

I tend toward the BRY board there, as well as a semi-private one, and one private one (Energy Investors), but also like to read specific boards dedicated to just one company, e.g., CEN.v
