I recently renewed my premium plus Brad, but no biggie, I would feel like a pile of poop if I asked for a refund. SI has been my homepage as long as I can remember, can't tell you how pleased I am that you your goal is for that to continue.

I still have two SI tee shirts and wear them proudly, although admittedly they are getting a bit ratty. My feeble memory is one was from when you gave them out and the other was a really nice gesture from Jill, cannot remember what I did to earn it, probably nothing.

I would be very happy to get another, would have no problem paying for it.

Good to have you back and I want to express my thanks to Bob for saving it when he did.

Cheers to you both.

I guess I'm coming up on 14 years with SI.

I liked it when I found you back then, and I suspect I'll continue for another fourteen, if you'll have me.

I know you guys are trying to make things even better than what they were.

And I know you'll succeed!

Welcome back!!!

OK, I like the sound of that... I only wish it had been explained so clearly before springing it on us at midnight one night.

I sincerely hope you are successful and will stick around and try to help raise the quality of the content wherever I post.

Jim

I recently bought a three-year subscription with SI Bob's encouragement. He advised me not to buy a short-term membership when my old membership expired.

He was kind enough to carry me for free for a couple of weeks so that I could get in on his membership sale.

For those reasons, I will not be embarrassed to ask for a refund if my paid membership does not offer me any advantages over free memberships going forward.

Free Lunch vs. Freedom

#msg-27470411
From: SI Brad (admin)
I want to devise a system where the existing users determine who gets in...at both the subject level and community level. The exact recipe will be figured out by trial and error, starting with the most active threads. If there are 500 posts/day on a single subject, can we increase the quality and reduce the quantity through some self-determining system overseen by the moderator?

[does] my paid membership [offer] me any advantages over free memberships

Greetings,
I'm here since 1998 (life-time membership)

Additional Info: Received many awards from SI's Thread Morons board.

Using the above two references, I see SI members having that Free Lunch here of a free site with no ads, but the Freedom part to how a member has access to current and addition features, along with the ability to post where and how many posts per day allowed is to be determined by SI to be aligned with the value each member helps Brad to take SI to a vision he would like to see obtained.

For example, when I tried to use: Silicon Investor Advanced Search

Thank You for the recent changes.

Ever since finding SI many years ago, I have enjoyed the many viewpoints found here.

I've found the civilty to be exceptional and theconflicts to be shut down quickly.

For the record - YOU HAVE CHANGED MY WORLD.

I like the more informed world you have provided to me.

Thank You for all that you do.

Bob

Now that I can batch read larger than 20, my setting of 40 became effective. I still prefer 20 for Previous but you have only the one

Batch message-read size

with dropdown choices from 10 to 100.

I'd like to split that into

Batch message - Next read size
Batch message - Previous read size

with a default that Previous equals Next unless Previous is manually changed. Similar to dual zone A/C settings in a car. At any time both numbers are the same, the default that Previous equals Next would kick in. Again, similar to dual zone A/C settings in a car.

Current members would start with both settings equal.

I completely forgot to congratulate you on re-acquiring Silicon Investor, one year ago, so Congratulations!!!!

It was one year ago today, that you publicly announced you are the owner of SI once again and gave us your mission statement.

It was also, one year ago, July 1, 2011 that you hired me and I started to work for SI as an Admin. Thank you!! That year flew by like an F-18 with afterburners.
