I MISUNDERSTOOD YOUR QUESTION

I though you were buying COMMON STOCK not options. Anyway, I put subject titles in BOLD LETTERS. I do not know who started the idea that BOLD LETTERS are like screaming, but I use BOLD LETTERS to emphasize KEY WORDS.

Anyway, I spoke with one of the CFAs in my company. And he told me that if you missed the RECORD DATE you don't get the split. I guess I better talk with him again.

Usually we do not miss to buy a stock before SPLIT'S RECORD DATES. So your question was a curve ball that I swung and missed. I guess I need FINANCIAL BATTING PRACTICE.

PS FINANCIAL PLANNING is more than buying stocks. It covers the following topics:

RISK MANAGEMENT
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
INVESTMENT PLANNING
TAX PLANNING
ESTATE TAX PLANNING

MORE INFO ABOUT STOCKHOLDERS OF RECORD

Irene, a STOCKHOLDER OF RECORD is anybody who has an ISSUED share. In other words, OUTSTANDING (in the market) and TREASURY (owned by TI) shares owners are stockholders of record.

I was assuming something totally wrong for many years. Anyway, that serves me right for not paying attention during my FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING courses.

In other words, anybody holding an ISSUED share before the SPLIT DATE gets the 2 for 1 split.
